We love bread, don't you!? But..

Every day we throw away around 800.000 loafs of bread.

WASTED is on a mission to make incredible tasteful beers made from rescued bread to promote a world without (social) waste.

A world without (social) waste

Food production is the biggest contributor to climate change. About one-third of all food produced is wasted. We are on a mission to change that!

Meat, dairy and bread are the top 3 climate change contributers. The climate load of these top three contributes 30% to the total climate load of waste. Around 44% of all bread produced is never eaten. Half of this is wasted by the sellers (unsold bread), the other half is wasted in our homes.

We brew all our beers with surplus fresh bread to not only save wasted bread, but also create unique and amazingly tasteful beers.

It's what's (on the) inside that counts!

In 2015, there were 1.7 million people in the Netherlands who, for various reasons, had a distance to the labor market. This group has less paid work and less often a permanent contract than people who have no work disability.

At Brewery 'De 7 Deugden' (The 7 Virtues) they don't ask what people CAN'T do, but what they CAN do. In the course of time they discover where their strength lies and where and with what they can best contribute in running the brewery.

The result is a flourishing brewery where people have a place where they belong, can work and enjoy the beautiful art and taste of beers!
